Most background-removal tools work by uploading your photo to a server, running it through an API, and sending the result back. SnapCutout does the opposite: the entire process — detecting the subject, cutting it out, and building the new image — happens on your own device, inside your browser. No image is ever sent anywhere, which matters if you're editing a client's product photo, an ID document, or anything you'd rather not hand to a third-party server.

Do my photos get uploaded to a server?
No. The background removal runs entirely inside your browser using an on-device AI model. Your image never leaves your device — we couldn't see it even if we wanted to.
What image formats can I upload, and how large can they be?
JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 30 MB. The result is generated at a maximum of 2500 px on the longest side, which is plenty for web, social media and most print uses.
Why does the first image take longer than the next ones?
The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the AI model (a one-time download). After that it's cached, so every image after the first is processed almost instantly.
Can I use this to cut out a product photo, not just a person?
The model is tuned for portraits and people first, so results on faces and bodies are the most reliable. It also works on many objects and products, but complex or busy backgrounds may need a manual touch-up afterward.
What's the difference between the PNG and JPG download?
PNG keeps a transparent background — use it when you'll place the subject over something else. JPG bakes in whichever background color you picked, so it's ready to use as-is.
Can I make a passport or ID photo with this?
