Cookie policy
A short list, because this site uses very few.
Last updated: 23 September 2026
1. What a cookie is here
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. This site also useslocal storage, which works the same way from your point of view: data kept in your browser, on your device, that the site can read back later.
SnapCutout splits them into two groups, and only one of them needs your permission.
2. Necessary storage
These are set by this site itself, contain nothing that identifies you, and cannot be switched off, because without them the site could not remember that you already answered the cookie question.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| snapcutout-consent | Local storage | Stores whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies, and when | Until cleared |
| snapcutout-anchor-dismissed | Session storage | Remembers that you closed the mobile anchor ad, so it stays closed | Until you close the tab |
3. Advertising cookies
These are set by Google AdSense, which pays for the site. They load only after you accept them: the AdSense script is not even added to the page until then.
| Provider | Typical names | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | __gads, __gpi, IDE, test_cookie | Select ads, cap how often you see the same one, measure performance and detect fraud | From one session up to 24 months |
| Google (doubleclick.net) | DSID, id | Ad personalisation and conversion measurement across sites | Up to 13 months |
Exact names and durations are set by Google and can change. The authoritative list is inGoogle's own cookie documentation.
4. How to change your choice
- Use the footer link. "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page reopens the banner, where you can accept, reject or tick the advertising box individually.
- Reject at any time. Rejecting stops new advertising cookies being set. Ones already stored by Google are removed through your browser or Google's own ad settings.
- Clear them in your browser. Every browser has a "clear cookies and site data" option under privacy settings, usually filterable by site.
- Control Google's personalisation directly atMy Ad Center.
5. What happens if you reject
Everything. Every guide, every table, the search and the cheat sheet all work identically. You will either see no ads or non-personalised ones, which earn less. That is the trade, and it is entirely your call.
